Spencer says, "I used to work at a shop where Dennis Bushnell was a frame builder (Valley Cyclery, Auburn, WA) in the 80's & 90's. When I was working there, Dennis got an order to make the frames for this team. The Cannondales were illegal per the UCI, but the domestic rules allowed 'em. But there was a UCI race domestically & they couldn't ride the C'dales in it because the tubes were bigger in diameter than the rules allowed. (might have been Philly) So, the team had to scramble & Dennis whipped out a batch in steel. Then, in shipment to the team, a fork lift accidentally shoved the blades right into the boxes & crushed them. He built them all over again - On time - or pretty close -as I remember."
